Palm trees mainly occur in tropical and subtropical regions, with most genus and species found in Asia, Indonesia, and the Americas. In the Americas, 67 genus and approximately 1440 species can be found; among these, 39 genus and 200 species occur in Brazil (Alves and Carvalho, 2010).
